Philosophy

Unitek Training Healthcare, LLC’s (UTH) philosophy is to provide quality programs that are sound in concept, implemented by a competent and dedicated faculty, and geared to serve those seeking a solid foundation in the knowledge and skills required to obtain employment in their chosen fields. The programs emphasize hands-on training, are relevant to employers’ needs, and focus on areas that offer strong long-term employment opportunities.

To offer the training and skills that lead to successful employment, UTH will:

Unitek Training Offers a Schedule for Everybody

Full-time Program: 6 weeks, days, or evenings (no weekends)

  • Theory (online synchronous learning): All theory instruction will be completed during the first 3 weeks of the program. The program is taught via virtual class meetings with the instructor.
  • In-Person Skills Labs: Fridays during weeks 1-4 (8-hour days)
  • Clinical Orientation: 2 hours to be completed prior to beginning clinical training
  • Clinical Training: Monday-Friday during weeks 4-6 (8-hour days)
  • 30 instructional days

Weekend Program: 15 weeks

  • Theory (online synchronous learning): All theory instruction will be completed during the first 7 weeks of the program. The program is taught via virtual class meetings with the instructor.
  • In-Person Skills Labs: During weeks 3, 5, 8 and 10 (8-hour days)
  • Clinical Orientation: 2 hours to be completed prior to beginning clinical training
  • Clinical Training: Saturdays and Sundays during weeks 8-15 (8-hour days)
  • 30 instructional days

What is a Certified Nursing Assistant?

A CNA or Certified Nursing Assistant is an entry-level healthcare position and is integral in providing care to patients, residents, and members of the community. CNAs work closely with nurses, doctors, and other members of the healthcare team providing caring and compassionate patient-centered care.

CNAs work in a variety of settings, such as long-term care facilities, community retirement centers, hospice settings, and hospitals. CNAs must meet the state and federal training requirements and pass the state exam to practice as Certified Nursing Assistants.

Duties and Responsibilities of a CNA include assisting patients/residents with grooming, bathing, feeding, ambulation and mobility, and activities of daily living.

The beginning of a rewarding career!

As a CNA, you will work in a demanding but very rewarding career. In time, you can choose to continue your education in several ways. You can go on to receive your Home Health Aid or Restorative Nurse Assistant certifications. You may also choose an educational pathway that leads you into a nursing career.

Enrollment Guidelines

Student enrollment into the Nursing Assistant Training Program is dependent upon meeting all testing, application, and health requirements.

  1. Pass criminal background check and drug screening
  2. Valid American Heart Association BLS CPR Card
  3. Physical exam
  4. Copy of government issued photo ID
  5. Valid social security number or Federal Tax ID number
  6. 16 years of age or older
  7. Reliable transportation to/from clinical locations
  8. Ability to read and comprehend English
  9. Current Immunizations:
    1. Measles, mumps, and rubella
    2. Hepatitis B or evidence of immunity
    3. Diphtheria/Tetanus with a pertussis booster within the previous ten years
    4. Varicella or a physician’s documentation of history of chicken pox with a positive titer
    5. Influenza (October-April)
    6. COVID-19 as required by the state and clinical partner(s)
  10. TB Test (or chest x-ray)
  11. Completion of the Online Readiness and Basic Computer Literacy Assessments
  12. High School Diploma/GED are not required, but preferred.

Online Learning Readiness

To determine an applicant’s readiness for online learning, Unitek Training Healthcare, LLC uses a Distance Learning Profile (DLP) Assessment consisting of questions about the applicant’s personal readiness and resources for online learning. Prior to beginning any online education, an applicant must have no risk factors indicated on the Distance Learning Profile (DLP) assessment.

Program Overview

NA100T-Nursing Assistant Theory

This course introduces concepts of basic human needs, the health/illness continuum, and basic nursing skills and procedures required in the nursing assistant role. The theory and role of the nursing assistant working with various populations in long-term care facilities, as well as acute care settings, will be discussed. This course includes 60 hours of online instructor-led synchronous learning

NA100L- Nursing Assistant Skills Lab

This course introduces students to the various skills and procedures that are required to successfully show competency in order to become a certified nursing assistant in the state of California. It includes skills demonstrations, hands-on practice, instructor lead activities in a supervised laboratory setting, and orientation to a clinical setting. This course consists of 4 skills lab days.

NA100C- Nursing Assistant Clinical Rotation

This course introduces hands-on applications as they pertain to the basic human needs, health/illness continuum, and basic nursing skills introduced in NA100T. This course includes 100 hours of approved instructor lead clinical care of selected adult patients in a long-term care setting.

Upon successful completion of these courses, candidates are eligible to take the State Competency Evaluation for Nursing Assistants. Students will be given the opportunity to test right in the skills lab setting by an approved vendor and approved evaluators. Individuals successfully completing this examination are placed on the California State Nursing Assistant Registry.

Tuition

Tuition for the NATP Program is $2,000 – However this is an employer/member sponsored program. Students can have their total tuition cost covered, and will also not be charged for books, supplies, lab fees or exam fees.

Grading

Methods for grade calculation are detailed in the course syllabus.

Courses in the program have the following grading criteria:

NA100T

In order to pass NA100T and complete the program, students must achieve a score of 80% or higher on all exams including the final exam and earn a cumulative grade on all assignments of 76% or higher.

NA100T will use the following grading scale:

Percentage Grade Letter Grade

  • 92-100% A
  • 84-91% B
  • 76-83% C
  • 68-75% D
  • 67% or below F

NA100L

All skills lab work is graded as Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (Pass/Fail). Competency, as mandated by state certification standards, must be demonstrated in each skill area to successfully pass this course and complete the program.

NA100C

Clinical rotations are graded as Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (Pass/Fail). Competency, as mandated by state certification standards, must be demonstrated in each skill area to successfully pass this course and complete the program. Students will receive written notification of clinical probation if performance is unsatisfactory. Students are responsible to track their program performance. Students are encouraged to reach out to the instructor or student service advisor with any concerns.
